Users often didn’t know how much data they had used abroad or whether their plan still covered usage, both before travelling and once abroad with limited connectivity. This lack of clarity created confusion, anxiety, and a sense of uncertainty while using their phones abroad.
Insight
Research and workshops revealed travellers needed reassurance at a glance. They wanted immediate visibility into their data usage, remaining allowances, and what happens when limits are exceeded. The guiding principle became make the invisible visible, providing confidence without overwhelming users.
Solutions
The roaming experience was redesigned with a dedicated “Abroad” section to view plan-based data usage, a country selection for clarity and reassurance, and a unified consumption gauge combining roaming and extra packages. This makes it easy to understand at a glance which allowance is being used first, enabling fast, confident checks even while travelling.
